INDIANAPOLIS – Mark Tunny beat 42 cars on Friday night to grab pole for the 45th Annual Figure-8 World Championship presented by Gladiator Roofing and Restoration at the Tom Wood Group Indianapolis Speedrome powered by Lincoln Tech.

Tunny’s pole prize gives him his ninth career pole in the three-hour Figure-8 model endurance race dating from 2010. With his most recent pole, he now ties Jack Dossey Jr. with the most pole price in the history of events.

Friday’s qualifying session locked the top 20 qualifiers for tonight’s $ 20,000 event. On Saturday afternoon, qualifying will resume to establish positions 21-28 to finalize the starting grid. Qualifying 29-42 will be added as a substitute once the race has started and the cars will start to leave the track.

For those who cannot attend tonight’s event, a high quality live broadcast will be available on speedrome.tv as part of the SPEEDSPORT TV network.

The action will begin with practice and qualifying on Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. Several purchasing options are available. Speedrome.tv also has several Figure-8 World Championship races from 1980 until today available on request.
