The pace is set for the Bol d’Or

Records were broken at each of the practice sessions on Tuesday and Wednesday on the Paul Ricard circuit. BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team and Yoshimura SERT Motul were the fastest, dropping below 1:53. YART – Yamaha Official EWC Team followed closely behind, ahead of an incredible Tati Team Beringer Racing. All the more reason not to miss the 84th Bol d’Or on September 18 and 19 at Le Castellet.

During the last Bol d’Or in September 2019, Loris Baz set a new record – a lap of 1’53.408 – during qualifying on the Paul Ricard circuit. The top teams of 2021 broke that record by almost a second.

The BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team crew of Markus Reiterberger, Ilya Mikhalchik and Javier Forés, already in the lead on Tuesday evening, achieved the best performance on Wednesday afternoon, in 1: 52.484, thus already setting the tone for the Bol 2021 Gold at the stage of private testing.

New lap record at Le Castellet for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team

Yoshimura SERT Motul (Gregg Black, Xavier Simeon and Sylvain Guintoli) was the only other team to compete at this level, with a lap of 1: 52.536.

YART – Yamaha Official EWC Team also set a breakneck pace with a 1: 53.018. The Bol d’Or is a very important race for Niccolò Canepa, Marvin Fritz and Karel Hanika after a difficult start to the season which left them with a setback in the race for the world title.

Tati Team Beringer Racing was the big surprise. The independent team mounted on Kawasaki, which has often been among the first since the start of the season, was once again in the lead with Alan Techer, Sébastien Suchet and Morgan Berchet in 1’53”453 on lap.

Another ambitious independent team, Moto Ain, was also among the factory teams. On the handlebars of the Yamaha Moto Ain of Moto Ain, Randy de Puniet, Robin Mulhauser and Roberto Rolfo achieved a fastest lap in 1’53.747.

The two private teams are ahead of Webike SRC Kawasaki France Trickstar and FCC TSR Honda France, respectively 1st and 2nd in the FIM EWC provisional classification, which will be formidable rivals in the race.

With the 8th performance in tests, VRD Igol Experiences also established a good pace just ahead of Team ERC Endurance-Ducati. The Ducati factory team was slowed down by a spectacular fall from Louis Rossi. The French rider is injured and will not be able to participate in the Bol d’Or, which starts in two weeks.

The two fastest Superstock teams, Team 18 Sapeurs-Pompiers CMS Motostore and BMRT 3D Maxxess Nevers, placed in the Top 12 in tests, one ahead and one behind the Swiss team EWC Bolliger Team Switzerland.

Not all the teams were present at the private practice, but given the high level of performance, we can expect an exceptional Bol d’Or on September 18th and 19th.
