Gravel Royale bike race returns to Fernie in 2023

Registration for next year’s event opened September 28

The TransRockies Gravel Royale cycling race returns to Fernie in 2023.

Next year’s event will take place from August 28-31, with registrations having opened on September 28, according to a press release.

The first Gravel Royale was held in 2022 and ended in Fernie on August 25.

The race takes riders through Panorama Mountain Resort, Nipika Mountain Resort, Canal Flats, to the ceremonial finish line in Fernie.

“This unique gravel event takes riders on remote gravel roads through the Canadian Rockies, the traditional home of the indigenous people of the Ktunaxa Nation.”

The four-day route covers 400 km and approximately 7,500 m of elevation. The 2022 event included 200 athletes from eight countries and 22 states and provinces.

“Cyclists can expect expansive mountain views, native wildlife, crystal clear rivers and a gravel adventure like no other.”
