Cyril Abraham has emerged as the winner of the just-concluded 2022 Abuja Mountain Bike Festival held over the weekend.
The festival was organized by the Chaingang Cycling Club, the only mountain cycling club in Nigeria founded in 2016.
The festival, which was a 40km off-road cycle race, was categorized into a men’s professional race and an enthusiastic women’s race which started at Lake Jabi from where the cyclists moved to Life Camp en route Karsana, Gwarinpa, made a return to Karsana to culminate at Life Camp.
There were 23 participants who did their best but there were only six finalists, 3 from each category.
In the men’s pro category, Cyril came out on top and was closely followed by Mohammed Badamasi and Emmanuel Aba who came in 2nd and 3rd respectively.
Among the enthusiastic women, Comfort Inyang came in first while Stephanie Ibe Chibuzor and Camilla Corradin finished the race in 2nd and 3rd position respectively.
In a conversation with the chairman of the organizing committee, Richard Brownson said the club is looking for sponsors as it tries to have a positive impact on communities.
“We make sure to experience a mark of backwardness in all the communities we pass through. We have participated in some school projects in these communities.
“We joined in the fight against cancer and planted trees. We continue to do things focusing on downtown areas of Abuja. However, we are open to sponsorship as we try to impact these communities,” he said.
