Long Beach, California – August 31, 2022 /ENDURANCE SPORTSWIRE/ – The Long Beach Marathon and Half Marathon today hosted a technical sportswear company 2XU as the new Community Partner for the 2022 event. The partnership brings together one of Southern California’s premier fall road races with one of the world’s best-kept secrets in performance compression, welcoming more than 15,000 runners hit the oceanfront streets of downtown Long Beach the weekend of October 8-9, 2022.

With a North American headquarters located near El Segundo, 2XU’s leading compression garment is the “right support for any sport” and is used by thousands of professional athletes, world champion triathletes to the NBA All Stars. Through the partnership with the Long Beach Marathon, the brand will offer community prize packages to all marathon, half-marathon and 5k finishers.
“We are extremely excited about our community partnership with the Long Beach Marathon,” said Nikki Beal, Managing Director of 2XU North America. “Engaging with consumers and educating the community about our brand and the benefits of compression is extremely important to us.”
The Long Beach Marathon has been one of the nation’s most popular and respected marathons for thirty-eight years. The 26.2-mile scenic route showcases the city’s miles of sandy beaches and unique neighborhoods. Most importantly, the event provides a platform for dozens of local charities and nonprofits each year to raise funds for their respective causes.
A two-day fitness expo, where runners pick up their bibs, explore interactive exhibits, purchase event merchandise, kick off the race weekend on Friday, October 7e at the Long Beach Convention Center. The race begins Saturday morning with the Aquarium of the Pacific 5k, the perfect distance for runners of all skill levels. Athletes can run the 5K with friends and family or use it as a trial run for Sunday races.
Race day begins with the Long Beach Marathon Bike Tour, an untimed, non-competitive event that offers avid and amateur cyclists the opportunity to ride the marathon’s closed roads to vehicular traffic. This is a safe, scenic and fully enclosed 20 mile course. The bike tour offers all the fun of the marathon weekend without the race, including a commemorative jersey of the event, a free beer for the graduating medal and more.
The Marathon and Half Marathon courses begin and end in downtown Long Beach, passing the Queen Mary, following the beach path before returning to Ocean Boulevard for its downhill finish. The event weekend culminates with a finish line festival and beer garden Michelob Ultra, where runners celebrate their achievements and enjoy live music overlooking the waterfront.
